Much of this is due to a combination of an inward focus and allowing pragmatism to supersede the biblical practice of intercessory prayer and evangelism. The purpose of this Doctor of Ministry Project was to increase the level of evangelistic participation of a select group from East Boulder Baptist Church after an extended focus on intercessory prayer. Participants were invited to engage a variety of spiritual practices via email and a Facebook (FB) group during the season of Advent (2012). The majority (88.2%) of youth completing the post-Advent survey relayed that the project helped them make time or find time for God in their lives. Scripture, church history, and liturgical traditions document the primacy of parental involvement. Parents, however, reveal confusion and discomfort with mentoring roles. This thesis project created a survey to examine experiences of Episcopal Church school parents whose children were involved in Communion preparation.
