The project engaged fourteen members in a one-on-one, seamless electronic mentoring relationship with a mentor. The leaders then mentored other church members through the mentorship model. The project demonstrated that one-on-one mentoring relationship using electronic means is an effective way to create learning which leads to the knowledge and practice of the spiritual disciplines. Participants will gain an understanding of these disciplines and practice them for a specific period. How do pastors build up God-centered disciples today? Moving away from self-centeredness toward God-centeredness is the most important goal of this ministry project. A God-centeredness curriculum was designed and implemented in a local church context. The project involved a select group in a deepening process of self-exploration, meditation on God's Word, and contemplative commitment to God's way. It was anticipated that participating teenagers would demonstrate a willingness to discuss matters of faith, engage in theological reflection, find comfort and enjoyment in doing Lectio Divina with their parents, and show interest in continued spiritual practices at home. As a result, there has been an increase in the number of volunteers who perform ministerial roles once reserved to religious professionals. These volunteers often have not received the spiritual formation of their professional predecessors. Drawing from the U.S.C.C.B. document Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord, the author has created a program of spiritual formation for parish lay volunteers. This report explores the relationship between prayer and devotional practices and theories of personality type. It uses the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as a primary instrument in determining what particular practices are beneficial and sustainable by the faithful.
