The project consisted of three phases. The first phase involved researching the fields of discipleship, one-on-one discipleship, and mentoring. The project director used this research to develop the curriculum for a workshop to equip the selected group. The second phase included the development of workshop lesson plans, a participant workbook, and a discipleship handbook. The third phase involved equipping the selected group using the workshop materials. The workshop consisted of six sessions, including an introductory and concluding sessions. The project director's intent of the project was to develop a systematic method to train selected members to help new adult members grow spiritually. Chapter two examines the biblical foundation for Christian formation and chapter three explores its theological framework. Prayer is both traditional and transformational, not offending the staunchest traditionalist or the most starry-eyed transformationalist. From the viewpoint of change theology, all of these developments may be the manifestation of a natural process of aging.  What would happen if instead of resisting these changes, we processed them as stepping stones to a new spiritual maturity? For the purpose, first of all, this thesis-project examines the past and present of the Korean Protestant Church. Secondly, this thesis-project explores the spirituality of the Korean Protestant Church and the cultural factors which influenced Christianity in Korea. Thirdly, this thesis-project observes the place of the Bible in the Christian tradition and lectio divina in Guigo II's book, The Ladder of Monks. Fourthly, this thesis-project examines the relationship between lectio divina and non-Christian Korean culture, Korean Protestant spirituality. This thesis-project also suggests both an individual lectio divina and communal lectio divina for the Korean Protestant Church. Participants completed a quantitative pre-test and quantitative post-test, including qualitative questions. The results of the study indicated that the Healing Care Groups Curriculum had a positive impact on the spiritual renewal of the participants. Using a qualitative research method the dissertation proposes that effective churches: (1) accommodate the cultural traits of self-centered American individualism; and (2) correct these traits. He enlisted two groups of participants in two cycles Action Research receiving feedback and input as the book was being written. He designed a Spiritual Assessment Questionnaire to assess thirty-eight categories of discipleship prior to and after the study. The results indicated a statistically significant increase in the level of theological grounding, of discipleship practices and improvements in the quality of the participants' soul life with God. Is discipleship unique activities or is it better to view it as an integration of activities? This project looked at the impact of an 8-month integrated discipleship initiative following the pedagogical framework of service learning. Five disciplines were cycled through on a monthly basis. The initiative demonstrated significant formational impact as the various activities intersected each other.
