The project was implemented with a select group of members of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church who desired to increase their understanding and skills in seven spiritual disciplines. The teaching component consisted of seven sessions which were taught in three distinct learning domains in select believers' lives. The focus was on the heart of the believer because I am convinced that leadership development and committed participation are intimately linked with proper, effective spiritual formation. To prepare for the project, I researched appropriate literature, and established a core group of believers who were willing to participate. Twenty-two believers initially participated in the first workshop, and most continued through the seven-week project. The methodology utilized to accomplish this goal was the qualitative approach. The results revealed that as persons gained a better awareness of themselves, they were better able to draw from their experiences to form relationships with other people, the crux of new faith communities. The focus was on intentional discipleship through an adult Christian education program of Bible, in combination with behavioral and spiritual disciplines to increase biblical knowledge, change behavior, and change attitudes toward discipleship. The data suggests that there were positive changes in biblical literacy, attitude, the practice of spiritual disciplines, and in making disciples. Many of these traditional mentoring programs, though effective in the past, no longer meet the needs of young women. This qualitative research project focused on selected postmodern women and explored the manner in which their unique worldview shapes their mentoring preferences. All Christians are required to grow spiritually. In both Testaments, God revealed himself as a holy God, and commands that all his children be holy. Books and even courses on spiritual formation cannot, in and of themselves, produce spiritual transformation in believers' lives. Only the Holy Spirit can form and shape them into the image of Christ. With that in mind, the present project entailed the development of a course on spiritual formation at Faculté de Théologie Evangélique de l'Alliance Chrétienne (FATEAC).
