The author also studies theological motifs of Christian community as a foundational preparation for churches and annual conferences to engage in transformative ministry. The responses of my listeners showed that designing sermons according to the different spiritual types did make a difference.  Using the Holmes/Sager/Ware model of spiritual types can enhance the effectiveness of preaching and lead to measurable spiritual growth on the part of both preacher and listener.  The results of a first and second congregational religious life survey indicated measurable spiritual growth for all four spiritual types.
