The author structured the program around the following keys to resilience: people, positivity, pliability, problem-solving, piety, and purpose. Project surveys indicate that students perceive poverty, are bothered by the sight of it, know that God loves the poor, and yet they are not personally involved with the poor. The class met through an entire academic year, once every two weeks, to learn, interact, and receive training on how to be the most effective residence hall assistant.  The upper class students who participated in the program received three hours of general studies credit. Descriptive analyses of eleven interviews provide the experience component for the method of practical theology proposed by James and Evelyn Whitehead.  The guiding question is 'How can the cultures of late Generation X undergraduates, their approaches to reflection, and Ignatian spirituality contribute to transformative reflection on service?'
