Students have needs that can be met by the BSU director (campus minister) being involved on campus by teaching a class.  An orientation class was taught using ideas observed and researched by the director.  Class time consisted of lectures, guest speakers, questionnaires, class participation, games and a video. The result was that needs of the college students were discovered. This thesis was tested through a survey of 106 international students at the University of Texas.  Survey items were drawn from writings by authorities from each of the major religions on the subject of prayer.  Buddhist, Catholic, and Hindu students conformed to official profiles for less than one-third of the measured items, suggesting greater religious independence.
