In order to understand these obstacles the researcher did a theological review of the values of Jesus' Kingdom and a literature review of the values of suburban middle-class culture. Of particular interest to the researcher is the significant amount of time and money that people invest in sports. The paper's thesis is that a model can be developed to reach suburban Chinese-Canadian youth (SCCY), ages 14-18, in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. First the paper defines suburbia, its characteristics, history and trends. Next the project's theological foundations are presented with the argument that the church can minister to SCCY. Relevant publications are reviewed. Toronto suburban living's impact on SCCY spirituality is examines.
