Min. project focuses on perceptions relative to what constitutes the most effective expression of ministry leadership within the African-American community located in a major Midwest City. After a biblical examination of call, character and competency, the project examines ministry leadership effectiveness prior to and as the result of exposure to theological education. This is particular to the Urban Cohort Program of a graduate level theological seminary offering the degree in Master of Arts in Ministry Leadership. The degree of increase in the area of spirituality within the group was measured by two assessment surveys -- a pre-project survey and a post-project survey. The project culminated with the submission of art projects created by the participants through assistance of spiritual disciplines. The most prominent finding was that participants recognized the God moments in their lives. The value of denominationalism itself is in question. An answer to the decline of the mainline Christian church lies in a reimplementation of the principles of 'incarnational hospitality.' Incarnational hospitality involves the church interacting with its world ad Jesus did: incarnationally, conveying the living God into the world of people. This is done through the practice of the three principles of biblical hospitality: protection, provision, and renewal.
