Although there is an emphatic picture of the 'net' and 'pits' of sin, there also is a stronger message of salvation (wholeness). The lament psalms are most effective in providing expressions of hopelessness, anger, fear, guilt, and hope within the context of faith. Their concept of wholeness is substantiated by contemporary scientific research. The church needs to take its part in this emerging discovery of its own ancient world. While wholism in the Psalms relates to the message of Jesus Christ, it is difficult to reconcile with the Pauline concept of human nature and consequently some of the doctrines of the church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718240547504128,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:31:02.778Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:44:41Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:37:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9c42d734-dff3-4039-a000-afc2d4f9da8b","accessControl_ssim":["f9ba3cf7-62a7-401d-a9c6-55921bad2e78"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing an understanding of stewardship in the small church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:44:41Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:42:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d6526c6b-e7ac-4013-b313-d6b0abc0431d"],"hasLease_ssim":["0f8f412f-a280-4ee8-9fcf-3e6f478556e7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Rhodes Thompson"],"year_tesim":["1985"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Larry B Haney"],"publisher_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["First Christian Church (Calumet, Okla)","Christian stewardship","Small churches","Ricoeur, Paul, 1913-2005","Theology","Barth, Karl, 1886-1968"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project was an effort to develop an understanding of stewardship based on what God has done for us through the person of Jesus Christ. This dissertation deals particularly with Wesley's emphasis on the dignity of man, the possibilities of grace, total stewardship, and God's perfect love expressed through man. This doctrinal background was reflected in the social and political action which characterized John Wesley and the Wesleyan movement of the eighteenth century. The author researched Wesley's sermons, diary, letters and treatises, and read several textbooks on liberation theology, to discover similarities and contrasts. She concludes that total Christian stewardship is biblical and practical for helping today's suffering world."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718636493996032,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:37:20.382Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:37:45Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:05:16Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"675560ab-8ff7-4b8a-9f64-bc7fcc6c0ed0","accessControl_ssim":["ab2b7a79-c2d7-4bc8-8ce7-83160d2bdba0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Ministry to inactives: a call to be saints"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:37:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:09:05Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["242c79e0-6d26-45bb-8cda-0085284503ca"],"hasLease_ssim":["ec2df65b-281b-4ddd-a2df-00e31fa5f09c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Christ Seminary-Seminex"],"advisor_tesim":["H Karl Reko"],"year_tesim":["1985"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Marcus Carl Lohrmann"],"keyword_tesim":["Confessionalism"],"publisher_tesim":["Christ Seminary-Seminex"],"subject_tesim":["Bible--Study","Church work","Congregations","Laity","Church membership","Theology","Paul, Saint, Apostle"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The thesis is that ministry to inactive members requires a ministry of the gospel to both actives and inactives. Theological reflection analyzes ministry in a secular society and is illustrated by pen pictures and case studies.
