Three steps were involved in the project: sociological-sociopsychological understanding of the culture, theological formation, and application. Having surveyed 26 authors on the commoners' culture, Hidaka submits a model of understanding culture in terms of the wa (concord-peace-harmony) value system--a diachronic and organismic interplay of value variables, including mythopoetic perception, rational lifestyle, consensus group-formation, and the societal mandala, each with processes of experiential dialectics. The theological formation takes adjectival expressions.
