To accomplish these objectives a worship committee was formed.  Twenty percent of the congregation was interviewed and eighteen small groups shaped new patterns of worship.  In addition, several aspects of North Stamford's present worship life were compared to biblical, historical and contemporary expressions of Christian worship life.  After reviewing the data from the interviews and small groups, the worship committee discovered the importance of the traditional way of worshipping God at NSCC. Lesbian, gay, and bisexual persons have been placed into the role of the bearer of sexual shame and have been the object of projection, discrimination, and prejudice.  Through the use of structural family therapy, combined with concepts from various family systems theories and object relations theory, homophobia in the church is analyzed.  This analysis leads to a theology and psychology of liberation, empowering lesbian/gay/bisexual and heterosexual persons to change the structures of homophobia into structures of liberation.  Through 15 in-depth interviews this project relates the experiences of persons in a liberation worshipping community in New Hampshire. Second, it describes an eighteen-month spiritual journey with eight lay women and men.  The discipline itself consists of three movements: centering, empowering, and serving.  A series of questionnaires was used to evaluate whether their commitment to ministry and mission deepened. Data was gathered through surveys, written descriptions, and by personal interviews.  The research shows that there is a wide variety of experiences, many related to death and dying, regarded as important to faith; that persons experienced paranormal events; that the classic mystical experience is rare. After establishing a PPRC in a local church and identifying the need for a training process, such a process was developed. Four churches in Penn Northeast Conference, UCC, agreed to go through the process to test its effectiveness and each church evaluated the process.  The project showed the process worked. Implementation requires a sound theological understanding of the covenant relationship between God and God's people and a grounding in the covenant traditions of the four major denominations comprising the United Church of Christ.  A group of Hope Church, Congregational members studied the dynamic relationship between autonomy and covenant as it exists among the members and churches of the United Church of Christ. In the United Church of Christ, the situation is complicatd by an historical no-intrusion policy called autonomy.  This prevents or at least delays any quality intervention.  The author uses his own experience, as well as other resources, to build a workable, creative model of strategies that is offered as a contribution to ministry.  It is at once therapeutic, but suggestive of preventative directions as well.
