A base for ministry was developed from the biblical concept of servant and the employment of historical and theological research. Evaluation of the plan developed was performed through questionnaires.  The evaluation was that this program increased the frequency of deacon visitation and assisted the deacons in developing a positive understanding of their work.  However, the congregation identified little or no change. Through a process of biblical education and forging an interpersonal trust relationship with the unchurched Hispanic, the pastor would have an opportunity to overcome some of the barriers of prejudice and misinformation which often prevent an Hispanic outsider from accepting an invitation to attend a Protestant church. Over the three-month test period, 47 adults participated in the home Bible study program.  Sixteen of the participants had never visited El Redentor Spanish Lutheran Church.  Of these, eleven persons subsequently attended a church worship service and five sought formal membership within four months. Techniques used were the pastor's home visits and family dialogue which invited family members to write and share notes on topics they agreed to discuss.  The pastor made one home visit before the ceremony of confirmation and the second visit afterwards.  The information gleaned from these conversations shed light on the inner life of the families, their systems, traditions, hurts and hopes.
