In the Church’s wisdom, taken from the Lord’s promise of peace and Christ’s presence, the Rite of Blessing of a Home can be a valuable means of delivering God’s blessing to His people.  A house blessing is a cleansing of sin and unrighteousness, an exorcism of the devil, invoking God’s presence in the home, and a salutary application of the deliverance of Christ crucified and risen for sinners. In the pastoral visitation to the Christian home and in the extraordinary care of souls, pastors should regularly bless God’s people by means of the Word of God and prayer. Hence, the Rite of Blessing a Home is a tangible application of God’s word of blessing upon God’s people and the place in which they dwell.\r\nThis project examines the practice and implementation of blessing the Christian home with the hopes of establishing a yearly tradition each Epiphanytide. An underutilized rite in Lutheranism necessitated preaching and teaching on the history, purpose, and intention of blessing, pastoral visitation, the Christian home, and spiritual warfare.  House blessings were then conducted during the Epiphany season.  This project provides guidance, encouragement, and direction for pastors to offer and conduct house blessings for those under his pastoral care to extend the grace of God and sanctify the Christian home, provide an blessed atmosphere for Christian virtue and vocation to thrive, and strengthen the relationships between pastor and his Selected members were equipped in visitation ministry skills in a workshop setting. This project began with the project director's research and ended with the selected members being equipped. The future work of the group is out of the scope of the project. Seven two-person teams composed of church officers carried the consecrated elements directly to the shut-ins each Communion Sunday. In this way, we not only hoped to give our recipients the joy of worship and visitation but also the consolation of knowing they are cared for by their church. To gain an understanding of the homebound, the project director researched and analyzed current methods of ministry to the homebound. Educational and homebound ministry professionals reviewed materials utilizing the development of the workshop sessions. The project director referenced the latest texts to explore methods and trends in caring for the homebound. In this project the project director explored the areas of visitation guidelines, effective communication, spiritual aspects, and maintenance of ties to the local church. The project enabled team members to locate and minister effectively to the homebound. Opportunities for role-playing gave team members enhanced ministry skills. The project methodology included PowerPoint presentations, role-plays, lectures, small group discussions, and handouts. Visitation teams were trained to visit in the homes of the shut-in members of two churches in Central Pennsylvania.  These teams visited twelve members and took the Sacrament of Holy Communion to the people.  The results of our work revealed the 90% of the absent members were delighted to be visited, by the Lay Visitation Teams and to receive Communion.
