Div. degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary from 1975-2000 (inclusive). The project had three main goals: 1) to determine the occupations of women graduates as of March 2002; 2) to determine how many graduates had left, or did not begin, professional ministry; 3) to understand and document the factors surrounding the graduates' decisions to leave or not begin ministry. Results indicated that 32% of subjects were not in active ministry. The paper includes extensive interview transcripts, statistical charts, and a theological overview of women's ordination."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31bd5819-b5a3-4928-96d5-b581f38b637b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126841146212352,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:34:25.827Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:41:25Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:18:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e0d90883-7f67-4ac7-a5df-c52a61098191","accessControl_ssim":["9e1321ea-8c85-4423-b4cc-5058f0ceace0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["John Wesley: a spiritual mentor for women in ministry"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:41:25Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:34:04Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7838feee-763e-4ee5-91bd-aabf90cb25b9"],"hasLease_ssim":["25bb0082-5b6e-4a3f-a86c-9c783e98b836"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Charles E Raynal"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Sandra P Shawhan"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Wesley, John, 1703-1791","Women in church work","Women clergy"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Hidden away behind over two hundred years of organized and methodical repression lies the secret history of Methodism.  John Wesley was a source of support and dialogue with the women whose work as lay preachers helped his religious movement successfully spread throughout Europe.  However, this history is concealed from the modern church that continues to inhibit the progress of women.  The history exists, but has not been made readily available to educate the church.  There is a delicate impasse between modern women and the Methodist hierarchy.  For survival and a needed revival in the modern Methodist Church, this history must be reclaimed and made known to all."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129632416727040,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:18:47.790Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:37:23Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:20:42Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cbcc81be-d77c-4fd8-821e-94b4042e9c29","accessControl_ssim":["57ac4a7e-f899-43c5-b018-9e6536e83e81"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The engendered sermon: how gender-sensitive homiletics formation can assist women to find their 'voice' in the pulpit in the Anglican Church in Canada"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:37:22Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:59:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ee6188a4-e8b0-4160-824c-b4cde384639a"],"hasLease_ssim":["83f9df77-8adf-4d53-b1a8-32902302eb39"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["John A Colacino"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Carol Heather Finlay"],"publisher_tesim":["Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School"],"subject_tesim":["Education--Curricula","Theological seminaries","Women clergy","Anglican Church of Canada","Preaching--Study and teaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis asks whether women have a distinctive preaching 'voice' and if so, how are theological colleges accommodating women in their homiletical formation?  It explores a number of key women in the New Testament, the developmental theories of Carol Gilligan, and ten sermons by Anglican/Episcopalian women priests.  The thesis then examines homiletics curricula at four Anglican colleges in Canada.  The thesis statement is tested in a forum for students and the thesis concludes that colleges offer little gender-sensitive homiletical training and women would indeed benefit from such training."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129755722973184,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:20:45.384Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Carol Heather Finlay","hits":1,"label":"Carol Heather Finlay"},{"value":"Mary J Sickels","hits":1,"label":"Mary J Sickels"},{"value":"Sandra P Shawhan","hits":1,"label":"Sandra P Shawhan"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[{"value":"Religious surveys","hits":1,"label":"Religious surveys"}],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Women clergy","hits":3,"label":"Women clergy"},{"value":"Anglican Church of Canada","hits":1,"label":"Anglican Church of Canada"},{"value":"Education--Curricula","hits":1,"label":"Education--Curricula"},{"value":"Ordination of women","hits":1,"label":"Ordination of women"},{"value":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Preaching--Study and teaching","hits":1,"label":"Preaching--Study and teaching"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":3,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School","hits":1,"label":"Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School"},{"value":"Columbia Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Columbia Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":3,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"2003","hits":3,"label":"2003"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Columbia Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Columbia Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Miscellaneous","hits":1,"label":"Miscellaneous"},{"value":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School","hits":1,"label":"Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School"},{"value":"Columbia Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Columbia Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":3,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":3,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
