A prison sentence affords women time to reflect on their lives and accept the salvation that Jesus Christ offers. This curriculum emphasized issues of self-worth, abuse, forgiveness, the development of a biblically accurate view of God, guidance toward spiritual maturity and a plan for continued relationship with Christ after parole. Utilizing a Twelve Step-oriented methodology, the writer advocates a theocentric as opposed to a humanistic approach for improving self-esteem. Working with women at one California-managed prison--Northern California Women's Facility--the writer researches the variables affecting Christian converts who live in the environment of incarceration.  Quantitative and qualitative comparison is performed between a target and control group. Research reveals that incarcerated women's self-esteem is enhanced with consistent counseling, monitoring, and covenant goals. Study suggests that recidivism may be lowered with appropriate theocentric methodology."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e59d8a7f-b140-41e1-9d1f-4e98aaa1d973"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131892972519424,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:54:43.624Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":4,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Evelyn C Tarbell","hits":1,"label":"Evelyn C Tarbell"},{"value":"Laurie W Etter","hits":1,"label":"Laurie W Etter"},{"value":"Robert J Thomas","hits":1,"label":"Robert J Thomas"},{"value":"Roy L Whaley","hits":1,"label":"Roy L Whaley"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[{"value":"Family systems theory","hits":1,"label":"Family systems theory"}],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Women prisoners","hits":4,"label":"Women prisoners"},{"value":"Church work with prisoners","hits":2,"label":"Church work with prisoners"},{"value":"Spiritual formation","hits":2,"label":"Spiritual formation"},{"value":"Christian life","hits":1,"label":"Christian life"},{"value":"Christianity and other religions","hits":1,"label":"Christianity and other religions"},{"value":"Church work with women","hits":1,"label":"Church work with women"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":4,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Dallas Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Dallas Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Hartford Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Hartford Seminary"},{"value":"Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":4,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"1994","hits":1,"label":"1994"},{"value":"1997","hits":1,"label":"1997"},{"value":"2003","hits":1,"label":"2003"},{"value":"2013","hits":1,"label":"2013"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Dallas Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Dallas Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Hartford Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Hartford Seminary"},{"value":"Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":4,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Dallas Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Dallas Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Hartford Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Hartford Seminary"},{"value":"Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":4,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":4,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
