It develops a couples' prayer workshop as an intervention tool to promote marital prayer, and evaluates the results through pre- and post-tests of the experimental and control groups.  The results reveal a slight but definite correlation between conjoint prayer and marital adjustment.  No significant difference is found in a comparison of either the practice of conjoint prayer or for marital adjustment. The research includes an eight-week, fourteen hour seminar/workshop that features the prayer principles from the Lord's Prayer in theory and in practice. A prayer survey given before and after the training measures changes in the prayer practice of the trainees. The motivation of potential participants may be blocked because the members fear they will be blamed for family weaknesses.  This project tests an intergenerational workshop which stresses six strengths of Black families.  A theology based on the belief that humans are created in God's image and on the NT image of the household of faith supports the project. The workshop considers the biblical families of Moses and Ruth.  It effectively attracts participants and enables the sponsoring committee to plan for follow-up. An andragogical section follows which presents practical uses of the material.  Some positive results are obtained. A pre-test questionnaire measured levels of marital satisfaction and the endorsement of irrational beliefs and offered rational alternatives to these beliefs to determine the impact of the workshop. In recent years, there has been a greater emphasis on Hispanic ministries in this region which has resulted in the establishment of new local churches.  There are six congregations that serve Hispanic families.  A common problem affects the growth and development of these churches.  The Conference has not provided adequate training for the pastors and lay persons of the congregations.  In this study five of these churches engage in a six-session training project aimed at motivating the participants for local mission.  Every session begins with a keynote address followed by a question and answer period and three different discussion workshops.  Each workshop deals with a specific area of concern: missiology, Christian education, or Christian stewardship. The study provides a missiological framework based on biblical imperatives from the book of Acts.  It refers to socio-cultural realities as well as denominational factors in the life of these congregations. It designed and tested a thirty-six hour workshop that helped eleven participants learn: 1) ways of identifying burnout; 2) what effects burnout can have on one's spiritual and physical conditions; and 3) ways clergy can equip themselves to cope with burnout and retain their effectiveness as ministers.  The project developed three instruments: a Self-Evaluation Survey on Burnout; a Fatigue Factor Survey; and a Participant's Evaluation Form.  This process was successful in raising participants' consciousness about burnout. It is, therefore, a vital and integral part of public worship.  However, despite the availability of broad general guidelines at the denominational level, these have not always been implemented in an effective manner at the level of the local church or pastoral district.  This project is presented in two parts.  Part one is a paper which serves as the theoretical component of the project.  It includes a biblical-theological rationale for congregational singing, a denominational perspective, an historical overview of Christian hymnody and suggestions for the implementation of the workshop program which follows.  The practical component of the project is contained in part two which contains the suggested workshop program.  The program is to be presented over two weekends. The first weekend helps the church members understand the role of congregational singing in worship.  The second weekend addresses the music personnel and worship leaders. This paper helps fill this gap with a six week structured workshop for remarried couples with blended families.
