The use of a worship committee is a logical outgrowth of a theology of participation.  The basic purpose of the study was to develop a worship committee planning model and to test this model by offering a training course to worship planners from four diverse Mennonite congregations.  The effectiveness of the model and the course were evaluated by course participants.  Both were strongly affirmed. The author outlines 1) the biblical foundation for worship, 2) an understanding of the contemporary view of worship, and 3) the motivations of human beings for worship in light of the insights of Paul W Pruyser's theory of motivations for worship and the psychodynamics of worship.  He establishes how the congregation's worship in his local church reflects the three areas explored.  The author teaches a course based on the materials.  He surveys the class before and after the course. Preparation for worship was realized to be essential for true, profitable worship.  The study concludes that worship education should be included in church curriculums.
