The author demonstrates how musicality in homiletical composition and performance expands the cognitive-communicative 'bandwidth' of the preaching event, profoundly affecting a sermon's portability, memorability, and emotional power among listeners.  He explores what recent research in the interdisciplinary field of music cognition reveals about how and why musicality has these effects in oral communication.  He looks too at ways in which musicality can enhance narrative communication, bear theological and ecclesiological meaning, and foster a sense of shared communal experience among listeners."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128445617438720,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:59:55.970Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:24:09Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:47:16Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1b7e3f68-94f1-4f6b-9da4-f7ae7259f711","accessControl_ssim":["e48bf192-e84f-4e16-a586-041822c0a8ec"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Lutheran worship: the relationship of the worship of God's people in the past and present"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:24:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:56:31Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0c217b58-00ea-4b30-a827-d383c8de421f"],"hasLease_ssim":["edfc630a-2999-4cf2-88fb-c8987c0f36ce"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Concordia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Charles A Gieschen"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Michael W Wollman"],"publisher_tesim":["Concordia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Bible--Liturgical use","Worship--Study and teaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The author intended to show how worship throughout the ages, as described in the scriptures, has been closely linked to liturgical form by divine intention. The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, was carefully researched to discover if there were certain criteria common to all eras of worship that should be expected to be seen in contemporary settings. The author concluded that there are several critical parts to the worship of God's people linked consistently through a liturgical practice prescribed by God. These ought to be seen in modern worship in order to maintain a historical unity with worship of God's people throughout the ages."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Concordia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f49f809a-65b5-4566-bfbb-5756e01b6bc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135201534935040,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:47:18.915Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:22:31Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:51:46Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"38a9aa77-6181-403c-9ed0-a2b42e2f2891","accessControl_ssim":["6c7f6062-a9bd-4d55-9a15-d18497a84c2a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The impact of intentionality on the effectiveness of Native Indian church ministry leaders"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:22:31Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:46:20Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d37abd0a-41d9-4676-89ae-bae14845a331"],"hasLease_ssim":["36ffcfa6-5c0d-4147-b118-a67942f573c3"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Phillip Conner"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Allen Scott Tafoya"],"publisher_tesim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Intentionality (Philosophy)","Indigenous peoples of North America--Religion","Worship--Study and teaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project sought to demonstrate that Native Indian church ministry leaders would be more effective in leading ministry if they would be intentional in their approach to ministry. The participants evaluated and deepened their understanding of worship and intentionality through group sessions and the use of workbooks. They also wrote, implemented and evaluated weekly action plans to give opportunity to practice intentionality in leading worship. Finally, participants were asked to commit themselves to continued intentionality in their worship leadership role. The participants experienced moderate growth in their understanding, skills and commitment to being intentional in their worship leadership roles."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e59d8a7f-b140-41e1-9d1f-4e98aaa1d973"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131710972231680,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:51:50.055Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Allen Scott Tafoya","hits":1,"label":"Allen Scott Tafoya"},{"value":"Michael W Wollman","hits":1,"label":"Michael W Wollman"},{"value":"Richard L Dacey","hits":1,"label":"Richard L Dacey"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Worship--Study and teaching","hits":3,"label":"Worship--Study and teaching"},{"value":"African American preaching","hits":1,"label":"African American preaching"},{"value":"Bible--Liturgical use","hits":1,"label":"Bible--Liturgical use"},{"value":"Indigenous peoples of North America--Religion","hits":1,"label":"Indigenous peoples of North America--Religion"},{"value":"Intentionality (Philosophy)","hits":1,"label":"Intentionality (Philosophy)"},{"value":"Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","hits":1,"label":"Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":3,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Concordia Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Concordia Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Iliff School of Theology","hits":1,"label":"Iliff School of Theology"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":3,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"2010","hits":3,"label":"2010"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Concordia Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Concordia Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Miscellaneous","hits":1,"label":"Miscellaneous"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Concordia Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Concordia Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Iliff School of Theology","hits":1,"label":"Iliff School of Theology"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":3,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":3,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
