Charisma is defined as 'God's grace that motivates and enables Christians to minister in God's power'. Distinction is made between 'offices' (Ephesians 4:11-12), 'manifestation of the Spirit' (1 Cor 12:7-11) and Charismata. The hypothesis, 'as Christians learn what their spiritual gift is, they will be freed and equipped for ministry' is supported with surveys and interviews with 21 members of St John's Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles. It examines women in the American economic scene, and the rapid entrance of women in the job market following WW II. To ease the pressure of combined job and home responsibilities, many women have dropped out of church. The project reflects the process in which First United Methodist Church of Kearney worked at solving this problem. The theological basis was explored in the light of the writings of the Bible and the writers of women's theology of today. Value conflicts were studied and the impact considered. Programs were designed and implemented into ongoing activities of the church. The programs were then evaluated according to effectiveness in meeting specific needs. Survey instruments were designed and used throughout to measure response and evaluate the success of the program changes. A local Commission on the Status and Role of Women was created along National Church Committee lines. Change was not dramatic but did occur: changed congregational attitudes and raised consciousness level of women of the church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716924526952448,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:10:07.722Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:28:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:50:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4d720e82-83d2-4588-9c23-e2ed984c4c0a","accessControl_ssim":["bf9e1d70-074b-4b70-8855-b558bc4f4547"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Older adults: a study of attitudinal characteristics which enable them to relate with younger children"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:28:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T18:44:43Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5fb1a5cf-4e75-4114-8ce9-4d2c50997b38"],"hasLease_ssim":["b17699c1-8534-402a-93e7-49c346669dd7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"additional_rights_info_tesim":["Allen E Kroehler"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1982"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The project is designed to help local congregations formulate their own programs, using the characteristics in respect to their individual members. Specific programs are not a part of this study. The list of characteristics was derived from readings about the two ages, reflections on personal experiences, and interviews with older and younger persons. The author concludes that characteristics do exist in both age groups which provide a basis for intergenerational ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["77231467-10ce-4737-858a-8cc38e70a4f9"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1851873100196478976,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T18:50:12.901Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:28:35Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:25:35Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d75627d4-9acf-409b-b77e-841182af02ae","accessControl_ssim":["18a38231-2e8c-450f-a72e-87d3dfc38f14"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Clinical pastoral education and its intrapersonal dimensions"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:28:34Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:17:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["23448cea-ead9-409c-acc7-919775418a39"],"hasLease_ssim":["d74dd757-e401-4fcd-bf38-2ce9ef5f5b19"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Scott H Hendrix"],"year_tesim":["1982"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Thomas Abram Summers"],"keyword_tesim":["Clinical pastoral education"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Interpersonal relations","Clergy--Religious life","William S Hall Psychiatric Institute","Pastoral theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This research project evaluates the influence of the year-long CPE student's intrapersonal development upon his/her pastoral care functioning in a mental health teaching hospital.
