Measurements were obtained by the use of a semantic differential pre-test and post-test given to the participants, and by the same tests given to a control group. Supportive data was furnished by a written subjective evaluation by the participant. Reviewing aspects of policing in a community to describe the arena of ministry, the author shows how police chaplaincy is an outreach ministry of the local parish. Members of the congregation were involved in disciplined study and living for an eleven week period.  The theological issues were: 1) the nature of the church as redemptive community; 2) Scripture as an authority for theology; 3) dangers of legalism moderated within a gospel of grace; 4) the quality of life within the small group; and 5) the difficulties of pluralism within a small group. The author's basic assumption concerning the Korean immigrant congregation was that it needed to emphasize a holistic ministry of three perspectives: worship, service, and fellowship, with teaching considered a part of fellowship.  The emphasis was to explore and test how the Bible and theology can be taught meaningfully to a Korean immigrant congregation.  The result was that the participants obtained more biblical knowledge, more theological understanding, and a higher consciousness for coping with and adapting to American culture while keeping their Korean identity. Questionnaires describing situations which could occur at any church were sent to members of the congregation.  They were asked to rank up to three members with whom they would discuss the situation and to offer the reasons for their choices.  The results of the data collected show that there was an informal group of individuals who were perceived to be the decision makers. The dissertation contends that each author has unique contributions to bring to Christian thought. Based on the concepts that ministry is for reconciliation, and listening is a vital ministry, the project sought to train lay church members in the art of creative listening.  These trained listeners then called on other church members--especially the disaffected--in an attempt to achieve reconciliation. The historical sources provide sufficient information concerning the colonization and exploitation of Puerto Rico by Spain and the United States.  Puerto Rico's history was examined in the context of the quest of these two countries for imperial power in the Western Hemisphere.  A knowledge of history is essential to a proper understanding of theology, so historical and theological sources have been combined. The theological sources, especially the Bible, give validity to the case for independence. The data for this project were obtained through the use of questionnaires completed by laity and clergy in this denomination.  The major conclusion drawn from this study is that the clergy is providing premarriage counseling which includes the topics of importance from the viewpoint of the laity.
