An initial chapter examines the historical and cultural context of Boston and New England.  The invitation process and the complex organization of the crusade is detailed.  The effect of the crusade is measured by close analysis of questionnaires returned from ministers and lay leaders of churches who participated.  Returned questionnaires from inquirers reveal the motivations for attending and responding to the evangelist's invitation. The data was collected from sixty randomly selected ruling elders who answered the questionnaire.  It was discovered that there is a higher correlation between specific academic training and good performance than between life experiences and good performances.  One must not conclude that good academic training will cause outstanding elder performance. There may be a third factor influencing both.  A supplement to the study itself provides a theological framework for the raw data. The stated purpose of the project proposal was: to develop a ministry to families that will facilitate storytelling by families and individual family members.  The report describes how one congregation through a ministry of listening, assisted people in rediscovering and reclaiming their stories.  Leis, the author, assumes that the church has been called by God to be a seedbed and spawning ground for stories. A system for planning ministry was developed with twelve lay persons in a suburban Protestant congregation of 1,400 members.  This system included a parish vision and mission statement, a nine step planning guide for program groups and a method for program evaluation. Current needs and practices within the Baltimore and Peninsula Annual Conferences (Washington area) of the United Methodist Church are investigated. The investigative research for the study was obtained through the use of field interviews and two direct mail surveys. The field research survey questionnaires were mailed to clergy and their spouses who had relocated with the Baltimore and Peninisula Conferences within a four year period.  Findings are presented and evaluated. With the assault on the outdated model for relationships of the dominant-superior 'partner' and a submissive-inferior 'non-person,' it is imperative to develop models and guidelines for doing ministry with straight, white, North American males.  The project discusses three retreat models and a mid-life counseling method with such males. Included in this report is a comparison of patients receiving hopsice care as against those receiving traditional care. That term refers to dialogue, mutuality, and joint stewardship of the Word between preacher and people as they gather around the Scriptures.  Evaluation of nine sermons, sessions discussing views of preaching, and sermon preparation seminars were the methods used; members of Fourth Lutheran Church, Springfield, Ohio, participated.
