The two missions are examined form both an historical and a pragmatic perspective.  The purpose of the study is to pinpoint the salient principles that have gone into the development of SIM and EMS and to see what can be done to enhance the missionary outreach of both organizations.  The symbiosis between the two societies is evident in the achievement of the basic goals of outreach to the Hausa people of Nigeria. This project investigates the question and attempts to apply some answers.  Specific objectives are (1) to relate what the traditional worldview is, (2) to learn, by means of a polled sample, what some present-day Zulus say about their beliefs and (3) to suggest missionary methods that will communicate the gospel within the current Zulu frame of reference. Historical beliefs are enumerated and seen to form a cohesive pattern of thought.  A questionnaire shows what Zulus say on such subjects as cosmogony, cosmology, traditional medicine, taboos, Christian doctrine and Zulu religion. Attention is given to the implications of the Zulu worldview for missions. It was based on the theological affirmations that true preaching extends the work of the Incarnation; that worship provides experiences including: providence, faith, grace, repentance, communion, vocation, and an awareness of the holy; and that the thrust of all pastoral work, including preaching, is the communication of the love and acceptance of God.  Ten people met for an hour each Sunday, discussed the sermon and reviewed the Scripture for the next week.  A feedback form was given to the congregation each week.  The results were more effective communication, better constructed sermons, and more effective integration of preaching and pastoral care. Included is the study of thirty-one women from a suburban Roman Catholic church, the subsequent presentation of findings on a matrix, and four case studies of women who showed a predominance in one of the phases of individuation, i.e., symbiosis, practicing, individuation, or distancing. Questionnaires were sent to 34 churches, groups, or individuals around the world, who were involved in a small group ministry.  Out of this research, several convictions grew which gave direction to our approach.  The necessity of building discipleship of a corporate nature caused us to investigate the level of desire among previously 'discipled' people in the church.  A Leadership Training Group Manual and two leadership training groups were developed.  Nine couples and one individual were equipped for this ministry. Six CPE students were attached to appropriate amplifiers and a personal computer both administered the statements of the profile and recorded the physiological responses.  As hypothesized, students created increased physiological responses to particular profile statements which were stressful to them.
