These are that when a preacher and the persons listening to his or her sermon are of the same personlality type the response to the sermon by the listener will be more positive than when their types differ; and when a preacher and those persons listening to his or her sermon are of differing personality types communication is impeded. Data was gathered by using both the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and eight sermons preached with the same congregation during one twelve-week period. The author contends that leaders in Shalom Congregations will be more tolerant of ambiguity, less dogmatic, less rigid, and more cosmopolitan in their orientation than others in the church.  He used personal visits, interviews and questionnaires with five of the original Shalom Congregations in the program. The primary leaders were interviewed and their style of leadership analyzed. The method pursued to gather data for this study was personal interviews guided by a pre-tested, uniform questionnaire. The conclusion reached was that the above thesis is true. Interviews, observation and a questionnaire were used to collect data from forty lay and clergy church leaders.  The paper includes sections on biblical and theological bases for stewardship, imperatives for stewardship and justice, motivation for giving, research methodology and data analysis. While the results did not establish such a relationship, they do argue for a possible relationship between God-image and the Millon (MCMI) dependent self-other orientation at the suggestive level of interpretation.  These results, which were obtained through contingency square analysis with chi-square, were bolstered by parallel diagnostic data. The field experiment involved a pre-test of the congregation's understanding of Pauline theology, an intervention of twelve dialogic sermons on six Pauline metaphors, and a post-test to measure the results of the intervening variable.  Dialogic preaching as used in the project combined elements of inductive narrative and indirect preaching. The plan for action includes a Bible study, an alcohol awareness sermon, a workshop, and a continuum of concern.  The model was tested in four local churches. Interviews, surveys, questionnaires and evaluation forms were used to measure the effectiveness of the model.
