Teaching methods included patient visitation, group supervision, didactic seminars, and ministry reporting. Experimental and descriptive research methodologies were used with a control and an experimental group.  Student growth was evaluated in four areas.  Statistically significant growth (p= .o5) was measured in the area of self-concept.  No statistically significant change was demonstrated in the students' attitude toward hospital ministry. The ten topics covered in group study sessions were: assurance of salvation, the lordship of Christ, the need for spiritual growth, a daily quiet time, prayer, Bible study, the church, witnessing, God's will, and personal relationships. Youth received training in developing ministry skills, mission awareness, and personal evangelism. Church youth groups made commitments to apply the training received to a mission project in their local community. In 1987 six of thirty churches who participated successfully completed projects.  Improvements were made and twelve of nineteen churches successfully conducted local ministry projects in 1988. Implementation of the project resulted in recognizable improvements in the participants' ability to study the Bible. Evaluation of the control and experimental groups was based on a pre and posttest instrument, an instrument measuring relationship change, outside observation, subjective analysis, and personal reflections.
