This dissertation describes the dramatic upheaval occurring in a church whose history and identity have been imbedded in a rural community since pre-Civil War days. Such upheaval and transition demand a process of reorientation that identifies vital elements for reconstructing an appropriate Christian ministry among a community in such seismic flux. Combining theological reflection, group interaction and 'acts of hospitality' provided a crucial first step in restoring the equilibrium of an old bluecollar neighborhood church and rekindling their sense of mission."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Candler School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["1e360310-aec8-4e88-a19a-00b4db71ef4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134911983255552,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:42:42.777Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:26:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:03:24Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d99d973c-3db4-45af-be69-0c6171e43f40","accessControl_ssim":["5442d22e-8795-45a0-a93b-fb5d095f960b"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A process for remarriage preparation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:26:52Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:21:12Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d4c2e4ce-564b-431b-a0ed-2a1e69cbc5ba"],"hasLease_ssim":["b6355155-15e2-471c-a747-feed17dd49e9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Miriam Therese Winter"],"year_tesim":["1989"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gordon E Ellis"],"publisher_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Pastoral counseling","Church work with children","Church work with families","Marriage--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project offers a four-session counseling process to be used by pastors and churches for preparing families for remarriage following divorce. The process, designed for both the remarrying couple and their custodial and non-custodial children, requires a pastor as well as a lay counselor who works primarily with children. It culminates in a uniquely personal remarriage ceremony planned and participated in by the entire family and the pastor. This project, involving 17 families, also offers pastors and churches scriptural and theological considerations regarding divorce and remarriage; stepfamily characteristics and needs; and counseling tools, including a children's workbook and workbook of liturgical resources."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Hartford Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8e52e4c8-38b6-4846-872d-a744b4f5725d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720283535310848,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:03:31.123Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:26:52Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:28:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cf069f75-987f-4dd7-94d1-65a347f3ef22","accessControl_ssim":["47cca36d-fade-4e83-b3df-d37090658c72"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Family systems theory and the family with AIDS"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:26:51Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:03:53Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1fe0fb2d-fd0b-4071-8256-78cc70c2cfd2"],"hasLease_ssim":["c088ac35-da41-4733-a29e-7f98a7a45693"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["J Earl Thompson","Henry C Brooks"],"year_tesim":["1989"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Robert J Perelli"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["AIDS (Disease)","Homosexuality","Church and social problems--Catholic Church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project is comprised of three basic parts. Easily neglected or denied, the repressed shadow is then capable of actuating the split-off inferior, unattractive, too frequently feminine, side of psyche in such phenomenological forms as projection and scapegoating. Raising the unconscious to the conscious level is not viewed as optional, but mandatory. Two parish church case studies of conflict support the project's thesis, as well as a chapter devoted to the ontology of evil. Psychologically, the trinitarian image of God is found to be inadequate. God's nature is more completely symbolized within the quaternity. Satan, indeed, shadow, is to be interpreted as a vital part of creation, not to be nullified by negativity but positively appropriated within a paradoxical unity."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133073742495744,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:13:29.694Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":331,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
