A literature review related to the indigenization of the Christian faith in Korea begins the study. Research also was conducted to discover shamanistic factors in Christian faith in the Korean church. The study concludes that local ministers should study shamanism; the shamanized Christian faith must be restored to its original nature; and the shamanistic mind set of the Korean people should be developed as a resource for mission work."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719239502790656,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:46:55.456Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:15:59Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:13:56Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ae9e0459-d726-45f0-951a-0d0c9b6bc518","accessControl_ssim":["bde25912-2651-4a21-86b0-c29c118176f4"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Reaching out to the poor through local church programming in the Presbytery of Seoul Suh in Seoul, Korea"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:15:59Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:10:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["62b65381-13c4-433c-bfe1-c2e97f771996"],"hasLease_ssim":["1b47e782-0ac0-44c1-bb59-3bb44c87d0f8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Walter T Davis"],"year_tesim":["1989"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Duck Jae Kim"],"keyword_tesim":["Theology, Contextual"],"publisher_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Poor and the church","Congregations","Presbyterian Church","Presbyterian Church of Korea"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This study develops models for local church programming to reach out to the poor in view of the changing theological understanding of contextualization in the Korean church. An interview tool is formulated with five areas: life review, life shaping experiences and relationships, present values and commitments, institutional religion, and spiritual life. Interviews are consolidated and integrated and a report formulated. The conclusion is that background is not a determining factor. Events from young adulthood on are significant. The thesis was that the church lived out of the 'peace' that Christ gave which included conflict in some instances. The method of study was to formulate a socilogical exegetical model of biblical exegesis, apply that model to two pericopes in 1 and 2 Corinthians, and develop a leadership Bible study emphasizing the cohesive functions of conflict discovered in the exegesis.
