Local churches should be more intentional and effective in their approach to baptismal instruction.  This project involved the development of a program of baptismal instruction, including the development of a baptismal policy by the local church session, the preparation of printed materials and a seminar for parents as well as a sermon series on baptism for the congregation.  The major conclusion reached is that the model of a group seminar can be effective as a teaching device as well as a tool for assimilating people into the congregation. People associated with Mennonite churches in Winnipeg are the focus of this study. The study works with two hypotheses: first, there is domestic violence among Mennonites, and second, that people in abusive situations turn to the church for help. The research group was a random sampling of eleven American Baptist churches in the San Diego area.  A questionnaire was given to determine the believer's level of participation in, attitude towards, and understanding of the Lord's Supper.  Those in the top twenty percent and bottom twenty percent were given Pittard's Revised Commitment Test.
