In addition to a premeditation of the steps to be taken during the initial year of the church there is a chronicling of the implementation of this strategy integrated with a post-evaluation.  The available resources and the role of the sponsoring churches are discussed in the early chapters. Getting to know the target audience, allowing them exposure to the developing church, and effectively communicating the gospel are subsequent key areas covered.  Securing a response to Christ that grew out of understanding, and which took into account culturally appropriate patterns of decision-making was a major concern of the church planters. It is shown that missionary zeal would not be undermined if we hold that God could accept these, and that stronger motivation can come from the love of Christ and the command of Christ. A qualitative research methodology was employed with use of a standardized open-ended questionnaire.  Responses of the men revealing their life issues and religious/spiritual attitudes were placed in dialogue with theorists of men's studies and relevant theological themes.  Explanations were given as to why men are exiting the churches, including the church's failure to connect with male mid-life issues. Both quantitative and qualitative data were derived from a six-session (15 hour) seminar with eight religious professionals, half ordained and half not.  The first three sessions taught a thorough concept of codependency and integrated it with psychodynamics and theology.  The last three sessions provided a process to look for evidences of codependency in personal ministry activities.
