The author developed a curriculum for the Bible studies, surveyed the area for the best locations, trained leaders, registered the participants and began an eight-week program in individual homes.  Each week preceding the study, the author met with the leaders to present the next study and discuss the previous week's study.  At the end of the eighth weekly session, the ultimate goal was to continue the two Bible studies and establish one additional study in the Boutte area. The thesis reviews studies on mainline decline and postmodernism.  It utilizes a radical understanding of the Pauline ecclesia as a community in which all relationships had to be renegotiated: 'neither slave nor free, Jew nor Greek, male nor female.'  The thesis draws on the author's experience in church development as a presbytery associate executive. Koinonia is defined as a consensual partnership between a church's membership and minister(s) in which the roles and expectations of each party for the other are explicitly understood.  The significant conclusions of this paper are that through a covenant process the reality of koinonia between laity and clergy as envisioned by the New Testament can be established and maintained in the local church today. A leader learns because he is 'motivated' to learn.  By employing six simple motivational principles, a teacher will achieve increased teaching effectiveness as the learner becomes increasingly motivated to learn. Teaching/learning theories and methodologies were researched and a theology of motivation was developed. Through a process of biblical education and forging an interpersonal trust relationship with the unchurched Hispanic, the pastor would have an opportunity to overcome some of the barriers of prejudice and misinformation which often prevent an Hispanic outsider from accepting an invitation to attend a Protestant church. Over the three-month test period, 47 adults participated in the home Bible study program.  Sixteen of the participants had never visited El Redentor Spanish Lutheran Church.  Of these, eleven persons subsequently attended a church worship service and five sought formal membership within four months. Building such need-oriented sermons is an essential, but not necessarily difficult, task.  The project report describes a three-part program of study, including a basic theology of preaching, sermon preparation, and the presentation, evaluation, and analysis of sermons. It was designed for the Honduras Baptist Theological Seminary and is a simple, yet practical, program.
