Pre- and post-tests and listening team questionnaires provided measurement of attitudes toward the literature and the issue of Christians relating to culture. The most success in treating this disease has come through a renewal of one's spirituality. Personal spirituality focuses on one's higher power, the self, relationships, surrender, conversion, trust, and a host of other issues, which are all core parts of the AA program.  This paper has used the alcoholic and the recovery process of AA's twelve steps as a paradigm for growth in spirituality for everyone facing a variety of dis-eases that disrupt modern life.  This process has been correlated with biblical insights and concepts as the foundation of Christian spirituality.
