J L Moreno's psychodrama format was utilized with a group of seven couples in a marriage enrichment context extending over two years.  Terry S Smith, counselor/minister, Mrs Billie Verkler, educator/psychodramatist, Dr Bill Verkler, sociologist/social psychologist, and the participants assessed the program as having a profound impact on psychological and spiritual growth of the participants. The case studies indicate many rich transformational experiences for the conservative church members. Focus group interviews were conducted to provide data for qualitative analysis. Participants' stories included the needs they brought to the ministry and the resultant healing and growth which came through a sense of safety, community and other aspects of God's mediating love.  Theoretical resources for synthesis and theological reflection on the focus group data included John Bowlby, Charles Gerkin, Henri Nouwen and Merle Jordan.  The nature of attachment, separation and loss and evolving God and self-images were noted. The survey information shaped the design of a pre-relocation package and post-relocation retreat offered clergy families. The sample consisted of 280 Catholic lay women ranging in age from 18 to 60+ years who currently serve the Church in some capacity in the Diocese of Burlington, Vermont. Response data to questionnaires and interviews are reported by descriptive statistics, frequency distributions, and cross tabulations including chi-square tests for variable independence.  These findings confirmed the original hypotheses except equal representation. For ten consecutive weeks, twelve participants from area churches met for two hours in a group facilitated by the author, in a format that included meditation and silent prayer, reading of Scripture, discussions of assigned readings and participation in various rituals.  Topics included boyhood stories, male mentors and friendships, faith and the soul, rage, anger and sadness, healing and celebration. The Index of General Affect was used to measure caregiver satisfaction with caregiving encounters before and after training that included bio-medical information on Alzheimer's type dementia and religious symbol re-presentation (based on Susanne Langer's theories). Contrary to expectations, satisfaction scores were high after the initial encounter and declined significantly after both types of presentation. This strategy, cooperative learning, which is adopted from secular education, is examined, theologically critiqued, and adapted as a means of improving instruction and interpersonal interaction in the church.  Not only are responses given from active Christian teachers, but opinions from selected Christian education writers are shared concerning social dimensions of learning. A one-year timeframe was used to evaluate the effectiveness of the model which encourages clergy to find a point of balance in ministry, specifically in light of theology of self-care.
