Quite simply, one generation is having to take care of two generations.  This occurs as older members of society live longer than historically has been the case. Thus, the dilemma of the middle generation, identified as the sandwich generation, is exacerbated by caring for both children at home and elderly parents who need physical, financial, or medical assistance, creating a drain on the resources of all family members.  This project examines the factors contributing to this phenomena, primarily through a review of contemporary literature.  The project also addresses possible ways to alleviate the burden placed upon the sandwich generation, and what the future of the family holds if current trends continue.  The church should play a significant role in the life of the elderly. In so doing, it assists the sandwich generation in caring for elderly parents. The lack of systems support and tools for assisting these families both in and out of the church was met by adapting the Twelve-steps of Alcoholics Anonymous to the blending-family.  Eight couples spent nine two-hour sessions creating and working the Twelve-steps for the blending-family. A socioeconomic and cultural study shows this community is much more diverse than people think.  Therefore, the church must be far more intentional and diverse in its contextual ministry. The Growing in Christ material, published by the Navigators, was translated into the Vietnamese language for the purpose of discipling new Vietnamese immigrant converts in Canada.  The case study and survey methodology were employed to conduct research and collect data.  The proposed discipleship material was field-tested.  Average and mean responses of the questionnaire were tabulated and analyzed. A questionnaire and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test were used as instrument.  The study showed that, in general, members of CMinBC churches lack understanding of biblical worship. The project included four Bible studies, four worship services and one seminar.  The author attempted to use creative analogies from contemporary life to encourage a major rethinking of what being a Christian is all about. Yet they know little or nothing at all about the beliefs and practices of each other.  Both claim to embody a universal message intended by God for the salvation of humankind.  How do both diagnose the human situation? What is the saving work of God that both believe and proclaim would change the human situation and restore authentic humanity?  What do they have in common? How do they differ?  The purpose of this project has been to explore possible answers to these key questions and to do pastoral reflection on such answers. The thesis seeks to develop an appropriate understanding of the saving work of God in both religious communities and proposes dialogue as a way to share theological insights.
