When the survivor fails to attend to his sexual needs and desires, he experiences this as wounding and defends against the fragmentation of his masculine self by activating his 'masculine defense,' a masculinized narcissistic defensive structure.  Empathic attunement is provided and the wounds experienced and defenses activated in relation to the survivor are interpreted in the context of the partners' own history of trauma. The study focuses on four cases where men were in therapy with the author and reports the progress of these men by their own report. The thesis of this dissertation is that essential administrative tasks in churches of 150 and under can be identified, prioritized and evaluated.  A focus group of pastors identified twenty-five essential administrative tasks.  A survey instrument was designed and sent to 460 churches of 150 and under.  Approximately 133 pastors and 68 lay leaders responded to the survey and submitted data which was tabulated utilizing computer statistical analysis. Administrative strengths and weaknesses were identified. Two discussion groups (those active in the congregation) consisting of two each of the four function pairs were selected.  The sermon was preached and discussed at midweek, rewritten, preached during Sunday worship and then discussed with the second group. A group of ministers participated in a two-session investigation of form and function of the Lord's Supper.  They reflected on 1 Cor 10:14-22 and 11:17-34 and various liturgical forms from the Didache to Keith Watkins' model of communion service.  The study determined a need for changes in the standard liturgy. Programs expressing hospitality are reflected upon alongside the teaching of Jesus, the life of the early church, the traditions and experience of the Uniting Church in Australia and the socio-cultural context of the study, in order to develop a 'pilot project' model of Christian hospitality as an alternative to prevailing ministry/mission models. The research, accomplished through mail-out questionnaires and personal interviews, also considers the impact on the counselor/client relationship of a pastoral counselor's performance of other clergy roles in a local church that sponsors a parish-based counseling ministry. Results confirmed that counselees who are active church members respond more positively to pastoral counseling than inactive or unchurched counselees.  However, the performance of other clergy roles by the counselor did not have a negative effect on the counseling process. Theological misconception rather than economy is primary factor.  Lion's Share is a stewardship program by Don and Kathie Deremer designed to assist local congregations develop a theology for financing global evangelism.  Five independent Christian churches were selected.  Ten-year histories revealed giving patterns.  Congregational questionnaires measured initial theological understanding. Lion's Share was prayerfully implemented.  Giving was measured one year.  Re-taking of questionnaires indicated significant theological growth, including a seveteen percent average increase in giving.
