In conversation with experience, culture, and Christian faith, the project describes and analyzes the complexities of the Malaysian reality, bringing that reality into dialogue with Christian theology so that a pastoral response to the specific context can emerge. Using a heuristic analogy of the body, the project then analyzes three ecclesiologies emerging most clearly from both texts: hierarchical church, communal church, and pilgrim church in mission to the world. Qualitative research conducted with eight officers reveals three common life experiences--emotionally rejecting parents, low self-esteem, and restricted affect--that issue in three common coping responses: attachment to television heroes, marriage, and careers in law enforcement.
