Four experiential small groups were conducted in the development of the program sponsored by the Immanuel Baptist Church of Lexington, Kentucky. The methodology was largely intuitive, integrating the life experience of the author and psychological and theological literature. The stated goal was to guide young adults toward emotional and spiritual healing within the small group context. The series of instruction and support was designed to help adults identify connections between experiences of parental divorce and present relationship difficulties. Biblical materials dealing with divorce and related pastoral care issues were explored to provide foundation, context and themes for this ministry. Out of these themes came the five sessions of the adult child of divorce workshop. One conclusion was that small group dynamics are crucial to the healing process."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128449814888448,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:59:59.973Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:42:17Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:14:13Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d00ce950-36c9-440e-8732-271fcb50af25","accessControl_ssim":["227ea45b-27d0-4cef-9392-ec51b3dfa4da"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing a methodology for motivating daily Bible reading: First Baptist Church, Douglas, Georgia"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:42:17Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:05:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["516827ff-9547-4728-b053-d08f53d0cfe7"],"hasLease_ssim":["77cfe39b-1818-4417-9f52-92e6939a0730"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Robert Don Hughes"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Joseph Shepherd Johnson"],"publisher_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Bible","Reading","First Baptist Church (Douglas, Ga)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This ministry research project develops, implements, and evaluates a methodology for encouraging and motivating the members of the First Baptist Church of Douglas, Georgia to practice daily Bible reading. The third goal was to establish goals and action plans for balancing the structural and spiritual elements within the life of the church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128427388993536,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:59:38.586Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:41:19Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:17:20Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e4b8a2e7-d349-44b0-bf81-93fea126163c","accessControl_ssim":["37101d12-9379-4046-aa16-cc111c2a3c3f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The development of a program designed to change a church's inward focus: Burgin Baptist Church, Burgin, Kentucky"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:41:18Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:40:33Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["38c329c2-89e5-49b5-9e3d-aabce4f73770"],"hasLease_ssim":["e45edd44-94f3-4425-b5de-80d4964c6979"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Charles E Lawless"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Joseph L Vest"],"publisher_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Church renewal--Baptists","Burgin Baptist Church (Burgin, Ky)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this ministry research project was to change the inward focus of the Burgin Baptist Church of Burgin, Kentukcy, to an outward focus. The researcher devised an eight week support group with two major goals in mind: 1) To help parents understand and work through grief that accompanies parent-child separation. 2) To assist parents in long distance parenting. The theological research identified major motifs of separation in both the Old and New Testaments. The study sought to construct a theology that engages the reality of separation within the context of creation and covenant. The social/psychological research focused on Bowlby's process of mourning and Bloom's stages of bereavement as applied to the parent-child relationship. Also Bridges work on 'transitions' helped to reveal the perilous passages one negotiates in life. An eight-week study based on the theological and psychological research is provided in the Appendix."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128010749902848,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:53:01.248Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":442,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
