Shalom is defined in its usage as a biblical, theological, and homiletical motif. Ten key points are offered for preaching shalom to Congregations of Civility without the preacher becoming alienated from such congregations. Preaching the stories of shalom is then examined as an effective means of fulfilling these ten key points, and four sample sermons are offered which incorporate this technique. These four sermons were evaluated by the author's own Congregation of Civility, and the resulting conclusion is that preaching the stories of shalom can, indeed, lead Congregations of Civility to concientización without alienating the preacher in the process."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128256061112320,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:56:55.195Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:07:57Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:57:43Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"567b63b4-8ed7-41e0-a04c-2f5bdcb36cd6","accessControl_ssim":["814bf05f-8ea5-41c9-8e4b-dd884ab3511a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing a literacy program in the local church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:07:56Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:40:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a81c511f-5d55-4b2e-8c1b-20d1d76fa37d"],"hasLease_ssim":["41e47e0f-b632-4820-94b8-c75782a784e5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["William Caldwell"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Tommy C McGee"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Literacy","Church work"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The focus of this project is the development of a literacy ministry in the local church. Church merger represents a way for congregations deep in decline to give up their lives, their identities, and physical manifestation in order to experience new life in a new body created by a miracle of God."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133896563228672,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:26:34.397Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:07:34Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:28:21Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0af6736c-7cf2-4e1a-a242-f75f21ad84b8","accessControl_ssim":["547e3dce-1960-4c0a-90a8-446c7e54d857"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The wellspring of discernment: a hermeneutic model for pastoral guidance"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:07:34Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:25:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7fb10705-3fdd-44fe-b8e7-e5ae5d8c658f"],"hasLease_ssim":["72951dea-ba84-480e-a8ed-4e61590c3b33"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Boston University"],"advisor_tesim":["Carrie Doehring"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Craig T McClellan"],"publisher_tesim":["Boston University School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Pastoral counseling--Methodology","Pastoral counseling","Theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project was developed and evaluated within a hermeneutic model of pastoral guidance for counselees seeking moral discernment on a life-issue. The model of pastoral guidance was unlike brief counseling or crisis intervention. This three to four session model focused on spiritual discernment concerning a particular issue, using guided meditation, homework, and longer breaks between sessions.
