Data was gathered using semi-structured interviews conducted with interns and supervisors.  Interviews were reviewed for common themes and any correspondence between data gathered and classic homiletic training and New Testament preaching. An informal demographic questionnaire was completed by each deacon. The level of understanding was determined using a Likert scale questionnaire and a conflict inventory instrument in the pre/post study interview. The results indicated that overall the project may have enabled the deacons to better understand their role in conflict resolution. The New Age religious emphasis upon channeling will be contrasted with the Christian worldview and a method of pastoral ministry consistent with the polity of a Baptist church.  The purpose is to make a Southern Baptist congregation aware of the challenge of New Age channeling and to teach the congregation, through a selected study group, how to respond to the challenges of New Age theologies and why the response is necessary.  First, the project will focus on familiarizing the participant group from the Calvary Baptist Church of Inola, Oklahoma, with the claims of channeling.  Second, the project will endeavor to develop a faithful biblical hermeneutic so that the study group can respond to these claims. Ultimately, the combined purpose is not only to understand, but also to be able to answer the treat presented by channeling to the Christian church. The purpose is to reveal underlying structural changes that are fueling the UM debate. The scope is confined to interview material gathered from six United Methodist clergypersons. The goal was to discover if the use of silence and solitude would lead to a more healthy community life.  The findings of the composite case studies indicated that participants did improve their devotional lives and consequently their relationship with God and with each other. This synergy yields ideas and solutions not previously considered by the team.  This study identified six behaviors pastors practice that encourage a team learning atmosphere in the church.  In team learning congregations the pastoral leader values team learning, models team learning, and enters into dialogue with people. Specifically, the dissertation pursues the question: what benefits, possibilities, barriers, and limitations need to be considered for interdisciplinary ministry collaboration to be fostered between faith community (parish) nurses and faith group leaders in promoting a renewal of both faith and health in times of transition?  Data was gathered over five years. It focuses upon the unique influence of Korean han as becoming an impediment for development transforming lay leadership in the Korean-American churches.  Han-ridden laity have suffered from the negative symptoms of han such as anger, vengefulness, resentfulness, helplessness, anxiety, psychoenurosis, and so on. Because of a negative effect of han, the immigrant churches have difficulties in mobilizing the human resources in terms of lay ministry. It is necessary to overcome the broken relationship with the Triune God and neighbors. This dissertation offers a particular way of lay leadership development by renewing the broken relationship. The essential identity of this dissertation is formed by the word 'intermediary leader.' Even though he/she was a han-ridden person, an intermediary leader takes care of his/her followers as the wounded healer. This dissertation attempts to critically reflect upon the application of H. R. Niebuhr's thought of 'responsible being' and Simon Weil's idea of 'intermediary.' This project investigates what Korean han is and what the influences of han are. For transforming the influences of han into the power of lay leadership, it suggests han-poori ministry as transforming lay ministry.  Han-poori ministry is designed for releasing han-ridden laity from the bondage of han.  It is developed in several components such as 'awakening step,' 'disentanglement step,' and 'engagement step.' Through these steps, the han-ridden laity are enabled to be intermediary lay leaders.
