The model design consisted of a pre- and post-test survey and three workshop presentations. This action research model involved both the researcher as well as participants to effect changes in attitudes toward educational achievements. The model shows that the participants are the victims of racial vulnerability and with training and nurturing, they can overcome this culprit by being cognizant of their culture, teacher expectations, the school curriculum, and seeking parental involvement."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127629748764672,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:46:57.897Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:30:50Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:26:39Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"aaca2c08-1e07-4bdf-b49d-53e48b5f1231","accessControl_ssim":["ca3276af-1fde-4691-962b-db07b364fde2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Living by the Golden Rule: a study of the lived theology of Second Baptist Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:30:49Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:04:02Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["dee25746-ae4a-4724-9eb7-4d046f7244eb"],"hasLease_ssim":["794d82fc-0d89-4709-9490-b7a17be6c124"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Nancy Tatom Ammerman"],"year_tesim":["2001"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Paul C Hayes"],"publisher_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Macmurray, John, 1891-1976","Communities--Religious aspects","Golden rule"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["'Golden Rule Christianity' describes the character of American mainstream church life, including Second Baptist Church. It refers to faith that is expressed more by right practices than explained doctrines. Critics argue this is inadequate compared with traditional norms of Protestantism. Through interviews, group discussions, and reflection upon the lived theology of members, the author proposes that following the Golden Rule is a valid way to understand the Christian faith.
