This pilot program seminar consisted of meeting surveyed needs of ministers through reading research, creating personal philosophies, and evaluation their personal programs. The results indicated that ministers wanted to be equipped to do ministry; therefore, validating this certification program. The certification program seminars will include pre-seminar assignments, as well as a post-seminar evaluation. A small group was offered an opportunity to participate in 1) concentrated training for basic youth ministry, 2) observation in churches with comprehensive, healthy youth ministries and 3) personal mentoring time dealing with ministry issues.  Predominatly Hispanic conference leaders from around the state led the training sessions, thus providing teaching as well as contacts and role models for them. Observations increased application ideas.  Mentoring allowed personal growth based upon their personal needs. I propose that a Phish concert experience is offering people something that they are not receiving in the local church.  Young people, particularly those of Generation X (those born between 1961-1981), are noticeably absent from the church. The paper, after tracing the development of the 'quest' from its inception during the scientific revolution to our own day, and examining claims for its significance (or lack thereof) for the Christian faith, recommends that the pastor apply the historical information in a highly-calibrated fashion. Besides being involved in conversations related to pastoral care and counseling, pastors lead their congregations toward its visions and objectives, and preach and teach on a regular basis.  This project examines the historical context, philosophical underpinnings and the practice of solution-focused therapy.  Additionally, it reflects upon this method philosophically and theologically.  In turn, it demonstrates the value of using this brief method of therapy in pastoral conversations.
