The project included enlisting twelve facilitators for the inactive member visitation team.  The training encompassed four sessions taught in a single day.  The workship lasted five hours and the training module and the facilitators' growth were evaluated. Several types of evaluation were used including: expert evaluation, survey, post test, and pastoral reflection. This project is an ethnographic case study of Oxon Hill United Methodist Church, Maryland, using qualitative research methods with the author as participant observer. The project examines the biblical, theological and historical understanding of both preaching and Baptist Confessions of Faith. Two doctrinal surveys were completed by the congregation. In between the surveys, a series of doctrinal sermons was preached. The results from the two surveys were compared in order to measure the effect of the sermon series upon the congregation's knowledge. The report discusses mentoring as exemplified in scripture, and summarizes the difficulties, benefits and lessons learned from the project.  It concludes that mentoring can be done in Cameroon if pastors are appropriately equipped and encouraged. To implement the strategy a variety of tasks had to be accomplished:  the development of a study guide for use in a discovery workshop, the completion of ministry descriptions for positions in the church, the development of self-assessments, and the training of laity to conduct post-workshop interviews for referral and placement. I contend that the common experience shared by African-American women and the rhetorical and literary traditions from which they arise bind them together as preachers, establishing a Womanist homiletical tradition.  My analysis of sermons included 46 sermons in manuscript form, on audio tape and some on videotape, preached by African-American women from a broad spectrum of denominations and geographical areas. It also describes a way for preachers to adopt actions to aid in preaching them.  Story sermons have become a vitally important way to communicate the Word of God in the author's local congregation in southwest Idaho.  The paper traces a shift of attitude toward a more experiential and diverse quality of perception.  The author searches to see if there are ways of preparing, preaching, and evaluating storied sermons that are more in line with the storied experience.  The actions or phases of internalization, interaction, deeper connections, and story creation emerge as effective ways of approaching this task.  These actions are fluid practices that a preacher can move between in the process of sermon creation. I hypothesized that participants in the perinatal loss support group would report a reduction in emotional and/or physical symptoms related to their grief.  My research included a review of the literature and interviews with parents who had experienced perinatal loss.  The basis for evaluation of goal achievement was the use of symptom self-reports, observation, and post-project interviews.  As a group, there was an overall reduction of 24% in reported symptom severity between the time of first self-report and the second self-report.
