This project concludes that Myers-Briggs is not an appropriate tool for 'placing' people in ministry. The ethics of Myers-Briggs do not encourage such usage. Vision is something God wants to accomplish in His church and with His people for His good pleasure. This thesis seeks to share that vision of a congregation's journey to build a New Life Center as a means of proclaiming the good news of God's grace through ministry and service in a community of unfilfilled dreams. The reality of the New Life Center is the visible expression of our victory and ministry in God. Moreover, it is the ongoing work of salvation and the continuing work of the Spirit of God reconciling and transforming the world through the church unto the living Christ. Indeed, preaching has the ability to move a congregation to see its vision of what the Eternal wants to do by inspiring the people to joing the Eternal in making His vision and their vision a reality."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Chicago Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["2ed862c2-32c4-448b-95c8-4a58c3d74b5b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134843899215872,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:41:37.846Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:13:31Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:31:17Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"21824038-e796-4def-ad6e-1c3b48d643d6","accessControl_ssim":["64ccdbc2-859c-4e81-bf89-944674cfba01"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The Good Shepherd's voice: a program to create a spiritual formation experience teaching scriptural meditation for adults and children"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:13:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:07:47Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["68273e95-022f-46b0-ab8a-2a36a92d2d64"],"hasLease_ssim":["be9502f0-3107-4284-ab98-14cbba9bf1c3"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Richard Parrott"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jane O Jacques"],"publisher_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Children--Religious life","Spiritual formation"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Children's ways of engaging with Scripture demonstrate the four adult approaches to meditation identified from Christian devotional literature, therefore adults can learn Scriptural meditation using childlike meditation as a model. Discussion focuses on the problem of suffering and belief in a God of love. The status and role of traditional and recent theodices within a pastoral context, liturgical issues, including the doctrine of God and Universalism in funeral rites, and the nature of trauma and its personal implications, are all explored. Case studies involving tragic bereavement through suicide by drowning with no body to grieve over; pre-natal bereavement of embryo twins; and a neo-natal death of a seven day old baby are presented. Short-term support of funeral services is considered, along with the establishment and development of longer-term support strategies of a Pastoral team, Pastoral library and Pastoral guidelines. This visual and kinesthetic gift is consistent with Wesley's emphasis on uniting love of the Divine Other and love for others."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716923332624384,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:10:06.584Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:13:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:26:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7191e508-4892-43d3-9a62-c94552bdae62","accessControl_ssim":["4a56acc3-f7bc-4eb1-851f-66188d6522aa"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Harmony in the heartland: starting a new church while incorporating the arts"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:13:02Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:27:38Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3dc53dc1-bc28-4b79-86e4-66e37e8f1bfa"],"hasLease_ssim":["1750798a-87fc-4b77-8cb6-09127b46b55f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Lucy Lind Hogan"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. In this thesis paper, contemporary drama is discussed with themes of alienation and community in our postmodern culture. The author led an adult class in Christian Education in reading and discussing contemporary plays over a period of eight weeks. Participants were encouraged through drama to engage personal faith and the community of the church. Characters in the plays and the plot were integral to the discussion. The project consisted in the preparation of the congregation through a series of sermons and the training and commissioning of eight volunteers to share in the work of the clergy. The paper also looked at how the social supports of the past were being eroded as the society became more developed.
