The author studies the historical origins of the denomination and sister denominations to determine the ecology of the Church.  Community diversity and postmodernism influence this problem.  The author interviewed 68 individuals regarding reasons for leaving churches.  Sociological differences, varying stages of faith development, and possible misunderstanding give insight on the gap between pastor and congregants.  Rediscovering the communal foundation of the Eucharist may help. There were twelve couples in attendance, four already married between 6 months and thirty years and eight unmarried couples. The couples already married enjoyed sharing and caught some of the enthusiasm from the couples preparing for marriage, while the unmarried couples enjoyed the mix as well. The author believes that the marriage rite best expresses the theology of marriage in the Orthodox Church, and makes a very good 'text book' for marriage preparation. During the retreat, we began with an introduction offering an Orthodox vision of marriage, followed by a line by line study of the rite. Communication skills were also taught, using the theology expressed in the rite. The project weaves together two major elements in order to reach this goal.  The first involves the development and implementation of a retreat specifically designed for cell group leaders.  The purpose of this multi-day retreat is to provide cell leaders with a cognitively richer and experientially broader foundation regarding koinonia.  The second major element of the project involves an eight-week period of time, immediately following the retreat, in which retreat participants will apply what was learned and experienced on the retreat in the setting of their particular cell groups. Building on the foundation laid during the retreat, cell group leaders should be able to more effectively foster and encourage the development of community within their groups. A prototype team was assembled to test the plan's effectiveness.  A group of students and local Christian business mentors was also enlisted in a mentoring program. The project consisted of nine sessions.  The session topics were: pretest and introduction, evangelism in the early church, videos on evangelism, personal evangelism and role-playing, the role of the holy Spirit in evangelism, worldwide evangelism, simplicity of the message, persecution to be expected, and post-test and evaluation.  The comparison between scores of the pretest and post-test revealed a 45 percent improvement.
