Can an efficiently organized and properly administered assessment model help select strong and competent church planters who in turn will train other church planters? The scriptures provide the foundation for assessment of others to whom the work of God is to be entrusted.  We are commanded by the scriptures to search for reliable and qualified men who will teach the doctrines of the church and proclaim the Gospel.  Church planting is just one of the many ways that the church does this.  If the church is to be faithful to the command given by Paul, then we must search for reliable and qualified men to plant Christ's church. Men are designed and equipped to lead the family and the church.  Women are to actively help and submit to the man's leadership.  This understanding has been the central tradition of the church for the first 1800 years of her existence and has only been challenged in recent centuries.  The uniqueness of this project serves to illustrate the consequences that result when men fail to lead by way of three selected biblical narratives from Genesis.  The passages are each grammatically and thematically tied by the phrase 'listening to the voice of' or 'obeying the voice of'.  For example, the Adam is cursed, not only because he ate the fruit, but because he 'listened to the voice of his wife' (Gen. 3:17). When one considers the poverty, geopolitical distance, backward or even barbaric lifestyles, and spiritual resistance of these peoples, there is little wonder why they remain unreached.  The Lampungese of South Sumatra, Indonesia, represent such a people.  They are culturally separated from the Javanese and Batak Christians who live in their province.  They are geopolitically isolated from the main island of Java and they are economically and technologically challenged, having been slow to adjust to the modernization happening around them. An estimated 3-4 million American women are beaten each year by their husbands or partners.  Based upon a qualitative research design over a period of two years with victims of abuse and survivors, I've concluded that sometimes the church has remained silent concerning domestic violence.  The aim of this project is to present a model for pastors seeking to engage their congregations in a ministry dealing with abused women. The project director led a series of eight workshop sessions over a period of four months that had as its intention to equip the adult participants with the understanding of specific character qualities, and how to teach children to make these qualities a part of their lives. The project will seek to develop awareness for pastors in order that they can minister cross-culturally in a more effective way.   Developing this strategy will involve all the Fellowship Directors who represent the ethnic groups and geographical regions in the Metropolitan New York Baptist Association, and selected pastors of the local churches in the same association.  Each individual, along with the project leader, will have specific responsibilities to accomplish in a five phase plan.  Phase one will establish the priorities of the plan.  Phase two will consist of presenting the strategy for implementation in the local churches. Phase three will consist of presenting the strategy for implementation in the local churches.  Phase four will involve reporting the ministry experience according to the given principles (strategy).  Phase five will involve reporting the ministry experience according to the association.  The process will be reviewed in order to enhance the ministry in the association for the present stage of ministry and for the years to come in dealing with cross-cultural ministry in the Metropolitan New York Baptist Association.   The project was successfully completed.
