Chapter 1 outlines the purpose, goals, context, rationale, and research methodology. Chapter 2 provides the biblical and theological foundations for missions. Texts were selected from the Old and New Testament to demonstrate God's mission mandate. The doctrines of soteriology, ecclesiology, and eschatology were examined. Chapter 3 discusses the historical foundation for missions with regard to specific individuals. David Brainerd, William Carey, Adoniram Judson, Lottie Moon, and Annie Armstrong were presented as examples of those who laid the foundation for missions. The International Mission Board and the North American Mission Board were presented as examples of specific Southern Baptist involvement in worldwide missions. Chapters 4 and 5 present the elements of the ministry project. The focus groups are formed; a pre-test and post-test questionnaire are used to measure the effectiveness of the sermons. The data is analyzed and the project is evaluated."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129603060793344,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:18:19.794Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:39:18Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:45:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"35a34b98-6bdc-4629-9872-1d58bdc250fa","accessControl_ssim":["0c5f6446-eca5-4b57-b804-ce5096cda2ea"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Preaching for discipleship in postmodernity: the problem of authority"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:39:17Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:40:48Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["35ebc9b1-f9aa-4671-bced-1383172d123c"],"hasLease_ssim":["132f25a3-fb0d-4af0-8503-da6c5a871e04"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Scott Black Johnston"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Reed E Jaboro"],"publisher_tesim":["Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Craddock, Fred B","Postmodernism","Ambiguity","Preaching","Tracy, David W"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The relationship between the preacher and the listener has changed dramatically over the past fifty years. Thus, this project seeks to explore the important role that context plays upon the way preachers go about attending to their task of communicating in the postmodern era. The project explores Fred Craddock's thesis regarding the inductive method of preaching and its continued viability. The project also examines the sociological issues impacting the preacher who would speak a word into the postmodern situation. The project leader seeks to target both traditional and postmodern members of all ages and lengths of membership that will result in a wide cross section from the congregation. This will enable a balanced approach to the understanding needed to properly evaluate past history, define current growth and allow for creative planning for the future. This model will address both the traditional and postmodern cultures each with its own unique needs and desires. The project leader wishes for both groups to grow numerically and spiritually within the church. The challenge will be to lead both generations to appreciate one another and to allow that appreciation to lead them to cooperating together in the spirit of unity. The desired outcome of this research project if for both traditional and postmodern members to understand each other's various needs and to be willing to accept ministries that will meet the needs of both groups within the same congregation and in the community. The project leader's purpose is to see traditional members become open to new ministries to postmoderns and for the postmoderns to see the value and importance of continued ministry to those who enjoy a more traditional form of ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b2ad2862-737d-4dde-8145-b9b6962ac5f3"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133267843350528,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:16:34.803Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:38:50Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:24:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"3061bac3-8410-45e3-ac0e-bbb87d0859a1","accessControl_ssim":["aa120fda-526e-4813-9fee-590ecad37d32"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Preaching for conversion: racism in the small church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:38:49Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:32:25Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c17cb1ca-05e7-48d1-8e02-f9dcbd36be6c"],"hasLease_ssim":["029c4be0-8a35-421f-8afe-e2916ccabad6"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Aquinas Institute of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Richard A Peddicord"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Steven A Janoski"],"publisher_tesim":["Aquinas Institute of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Race relations","Church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Racism (the belief that one race is superior to another), although accepted as part of human nature, is in reality a learned behavior that can be unlearned. A statement of affirmation and intent is crafted as a tenable and transformational image and pattern for future fellowship and ministry together as the family of God."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129501867966465,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:16:43.289Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:38:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:12:05Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"beb70418-9870-43bc-8f2e-1c35a5c50564","accessControl_ssim":["027e5a52-bbf0-4ada-be6b-691aaa886d9a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An analysis of the North American Mission Board's assessment process for selecting church planters"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:38:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:37:33Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7b0a6493-e833-4c97-a4b0-1f8d0b609e0b"],"hasLease_ssim":["901f01b6-57d5-4cd4-9584-182428b1513a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John Mark Terry"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["John L Shepherd"],"publisher_tesim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Southern Baptist Convention","Job evaluation","Missions","Church development, New"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project studies the effectiveness of the behavioral assessment interview process used by NAMB for selecting church planters. This process is based on the manual written by Charles Ridley, entitled How to select church planters: a self-study manual for recruiting, screening, interviewing and evaluating qualified church planters. Research in this project focused primarily on : (1) a careful review of the written assessment reports of more than 260 candidates; (2) administration of a written survey that was completed by the candidates which focused on the progress of their church plants; (3) a follow-up telephone survey and (4) a comparison of the results of the assessed candidates with a control group of forty planters who were not assessed but attempted to plant anyway. The research showed that NAMB's assessment process was an accurate predictor of church planting behaviors, as measured by thee outcomes: average worship attendance, average baptisms from conversions, and progress made toward constitution."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129216845086720,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:12:11.470Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:38:20Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:51:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"330db763-a301-4120-bccd-761fb905cc81","accessControl_ssim":["0e002065-5aff-498b-9a8d-a7fe211e32b2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Abundant living: transforming the economic and spiritual status of African American women"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:38:19Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:36:59Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5f3a1a40-8c78-42de-836b-8aa37109efdc"],"hasLease_ssim":["38e4ae55-0b4e-431d-92d9-672cf60e5fcc"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Clinton D McNair"],"year_tesim":["2003"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Angela M Edwards"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary (OH)"],"subject_tesim":["African American women","Women--Religious life","African Americans--Social conditions","African Americans--Economic conditions"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The objective of this project is to provide a vision and curriculum that teaches, empowers, and supports African American women as they experience transformation in their economic and spiritual status. The methodology includes correlating a series of five spiritual principles with five economic principles. Twenty African American women worked through the principles pedagogically. A qualitative participatory research method engages the principles of economic and spiritual empowerment. Pre-test, post-test, surveys, questionnaires, and evaluations were instruments used to capture critical information to evaluate the project.
