The process will make use of a small task force, a congregational survey, and approval by the congregation. In the midst of ethnic, cultural, and denominational diversity, core values can be one of the primary forces in building unity. Shared core values will be key tools when confronting divisive issues, future directions and evaluating existing structures and programs. Specifically, this mentoring was geared to four components of spiritual well-being: spiritual development/formation, physical fitness, intellectual fitness, and emotional/relational fitness. This research was a pilot test of a model that may be used in future leadership development. This dissertation project was designed to increase the passion for lost souls in the heart of every participant in an Apostolic Leadership Model. The thirteen participants visited two apostolic churches, met in monthly meetings for two years, and read about apostolic churches that reach unchurched thousands. Semi-structured interviews were used to measure the effectiveness of the study on thirteen pastors. A research survey was sent to 500 Seventh-day Adventist congregational leaders to rate their ministers according to five bases of power (Expert, Referent, Reward, Legitimate, and Coercive). The survey also asked the respondents to reflect on the health and morale of their congregations. Around the world, city dwellers live in complex, urban societies and cultures. The ever-increasing population of cities presents a staggering multiplicity of social needs along with opportunities for the Church to reach people with the message of salvation. The purpose of this study was to research three innovative and fruitful ministries in the city of Miami, Florida, to gather principles for an effective urban ministry. Training enables leaders to achieve their potential. The purpose of this research project was to address a continuing need for leaders at Wesley United Methodist Church in Erie, Pennsylvania. The project developed and tested a program for training leaders at Wesley Church. This study emphasized five leadership characteristics for developing leaders: spiritual formation, emotional intelligence, authentic community, building teams, and resolving conflict. It focused on humility as a trait that encourages the practice of these characteristics.
