The author researched clergy stress in one District of the Virginia Annual Conference through an ethnographic study. The author presents Sabbath rest as the theological foundation for a response to clergy stress and burnout. The long term healing responses to stress and burnout presented are preventive care, a retreat based Sabbath rest mininstry, and clergy spiritual support groups. The study concludes with a prophetic call for the development of the Clergy Care Institute at Wesley Theological Seminary."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715511540383744,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:47:40.193Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:18:14Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:21:15Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"92fc074f-9c87-4bcc-aaee-0a2ce0be1905","accessControl_ssim":["ad8c50ac-66f8-4915-b96f-9d6c4e455879"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The role of cosmogonic myth and metanarrative in shaping congregational identity"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:18:13Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:26:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["9ce41919-67bc-487d-8a6f-45619f2a981b"],"hasLease_ssim":["8b99f091-d64d-4a29-a4ab-fda6cf640d49"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Kelton Cobb"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ned Wolfe Edwards"],"keyword_tesim":["Relation (Theology)"],"publisher_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Mythology--Study and teaching","Congregations","Ricoeur, Paul, 1913-2005","Identity (Psychology)","Eliade, Mircea, 1907-1986","Turner, Victor W, 1920-1983","Cosmogony"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Three stories, particular to a congregation's history, were identified as cosmogonic myth and metanarratives and tested for their ability to reshape the identity of that congregation as it was in flux.
