It contends that examining the preaching of the first three centuries can assist the current preacher. It further asserts that the preaching of the early church was more 'poetic' in nature and that by adopting a more poetic style we will be better equipped to preach in a pluralistic, post-modern environment and recapture a genre of biblical literature that has been neglected in the field of homiletics. Mentoring, or life-into-life ministry, is the most intense form of community and therefore holds potential to stimulate the most intense spirituality. In a survey of current literature, this study noted the dramatic explosion of mentoring into the everyday life of our culture. The current relevance and effectiveness of the biblical, historical, and current insights on mentoring were tested among seminary students and women's lay ministries and a paradigm for mentoring was constructed from the results. The overall conclusion was that mentoring is a concept whose time has come and needs to be embraced, especially by the Reformed faith group."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715085454671872,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:40:53.847Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:58Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:49:01Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"f66cb86e-5929-47d4-9161-115cc1707ae3","accessControl_ssim":["e9cac1bf-6592-4308-97ab-4a4c85f21296"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Narrative process in interfaith dialogue among undergraduate students"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:58Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:10:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e45efede-c933-4b99-9946-89b73dd383c5"],"hasLease_ssim":["d15c93ca-a9f5-4451-857a-d0906690e88b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Susan L Nelson","Charles L Kammer"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Linda J Morgan-Clement"],"publisher_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Students","Christianity and other religions","Narrative theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This abstract explores the role of narrative process in interfaith dialogue among undergraduate students. The author used narrative process to design and teach a course on interfaith dialogue. Narrative process helped students enter a dialogue that moved beyond the theoretical, to include the experience of 'lived' faith. The author's journal, students' responses to surveys, and a comparison of writing samples led the author to conclude that narrative process is very effective in creating dialogue that deepens personal commitment, encourages self-reflection, and creates the spaces for respectful exchange of differing religious beliefs and worldviews."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31bd5819-b5a3-4928-96d5-b581f38b637b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127762946228224,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:49:04.924Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:29:08Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"06627587-08f6-4234-93a8-2ade18925a09","accessControl_ssim":["7d058b4f-e6b4-47be-99ae-35a45e1a09e9"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Primary pathways, preverbal formational healing: an 8-week study of the preverbal developmental aspect of pumphouse pathways, a twenty week formational healing program"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:43Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:18:13Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c947bca7-3910-46c4-9795-05d250ad7b9b"],"hasLease_ssim":["0442bf1a-86a8-454d-8346-6bfebb5899a8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Terry Wardle"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Anne M Halley"],"publisher_tesim":["Ashland Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Child development","Spiritual formation"],"language_tesim":["English"],"alternative_title_tesim":["Primary pathwasy, preverbal formational healing: an eight-week study of the preverbal developmental aspect of pumphouse pathways, a twenty week formational healing program"],"abstract_tesim":["A formational healing program was designed for the Pump House ministries. The study also discovered that the sermons, guided by insights from the pastoral assessment, produced measurable cognitive and attitudinal changes in the listeners."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128834976776192,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:06:07.291Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:26Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:19:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c9072e30-1132-4fc1-bb9f-f25b476a151a","accessControl_ssim":["8af085ad-85a6-49ed-ade6-81fe0b61b909"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Blessed are the children: a liberation theology for abused and neglected children"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:25Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:54:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e48b54b8-d8aa-4ba1-a923-eab593da5b5f"],"hasLease_ssim":["46abb299-8146-40c1-bed5-24eea07dff1a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Iliff School of Theology"],"advisor_tesim":["Thomas H Troeger"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Kimberly A Shinabery"],"publisher_tesim":["Iliff School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Children--Religious life","Child abuse","Liberation theology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Within each child is a spark of life lit only by God. In light of this phenomenon this study seeks to examine the following hypothesis: parishioners who are exposed to multimedia sermons will have higher perceptions of sermon effectiveness than parishioners not exposed to multimedia sermons. The quantitative research results of the study reveal that out of 40 dependent variables used to operationalize an effective sermon, only five show any degree of significant variance. The five variables are sermon organization, giving a mental image, being involving, being creative, and likability. Qualitative research results of the study reveal that no difference exists between the multimedia sermon and the non-multimedia sermons in the areas of being able to recreate the biblical message of the sermon, the sermon having relevance for life, the sermon being engaging for the listener, and the sermon bringing forth feelings in the listener. On a seven-point scale the subjects rated multimedia with a '3' as being more effective than a non-multimedia sermon. Overall the research results reveal that there is no significance of variance between multimedia sermons and non-multimedia sermons preached in this project. Four strategies for preaching multimedia sermons are then presented."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Christian Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["795851c5-e081-4353-9c00-2c554dd1d015"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135279973662720,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:48:33.720Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:15Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:29:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"043727e7-311f-438d-be6f-431bbb6a87ce","accessControl_ssim":["496cda13-fb9e-4ffc-ad78-0f3aabfcf9c7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Tending the flame of feminine holiness: women of Christ in community"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:53:14Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:14:27Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["425afce2-9462-4010-b0f8-ee35c09f7e37"],"hasLease_ssim":["6dedfbc2-0952-44b0-864c-1fd5946b0989"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Byron H Jackson"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Demetra Velisarios Jaquet"],"publisher_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Deaconesses","Women in church work","Women's Orthodox Ministries and Education Network","Women, Orthodox Eastern"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Orthodox Christian women minister amidst tensions between two mysteries of theological anthropology: one shared nature as humankind, yet distinctiveness as gender female.
