The author compared the self-identification of type after experiencing the course with a pre-test of the Wagner Enneagram Personality Style Scale. Eight of ten participants matched their self-identification to the score on the pretest. Through questionnaires and discussion groups, the congregation's practice of hospitality was compared to five research congregations.  The questionnaire and discussion groups focused on the concrete and abstract occurrences of hospitality.  The acquired information was used to compare the congregation's implied practice of hospitality with tangible experiences. This study tells the story of how the members were faithful in their responsibility to be an advocate for the rights of the marginalized. Results for the project included an empowered community where faith is enacted in intentional and missional forms by the congregation. Consequently many women experience long periods of spiritual darkness.  Through individual entrance and exit interviews of seven women from Highland Park Presbyterian Church, small group interaction with them around creative rearticulation of women's stories from scripture and individual Ignatian style meditation exercises, research discloses that all the women experienced sexual abuse, forced isolation and economic dependence.  Most had also experienced physical and verbal abuse. For three months the author selected an adult church school class to serve as a focus group and conducted interviews with the members. With the community seated around the table in a Presbyterian (USA) church, the congregation was studied for six-months using linked quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection. Architectural, historical and theological sources from the Reformed tradition inform the study.
