Six presentations and small-group seminars were utilized studying biblical, theological, and denominational sources.  The project was evaluated for inreased individual awareness of church mission, group evaluation purpose, and group program planning to support mission.  This report's conclusios indicate that objectives for a large number of participants were not met. Several congregational issues exist concerning end of life in the African American community. The author studied developmental theorists and James Fowler's stages of faith.  She then developed a chart that correlated the accepted stages of physical, cognitive, and emotional development with Fowler's stages of faith. The results of pre-post tests, as well as group sessions, indicated that participants' understanding of and attitudes about marital relationships were enhanced. Mixed methods of research utilizing pre and post surveys, a series of sermons, observations and interviews given by a context group were used to measure the results.  The goal was to teach the Christian education board made up of 17 members, on the usage and application of fellowship principles taken from the Bible, and to have these members use these principles of fellowship in the congregation. The model for ministy consisted of gifts assessments, questionnaires and interviews, and a series of workshops and accompanying sermons.  The project revealed the elders were more motivated by the need to accomplish an assignment than by their area of giftedness. Results indicated that, while leaders respected the emphasis on gifts, they needed a respite. The researcher hypothesized that a twenty-hour seminar, in addition to theological training, would impact the participants to be actively involved in Christian leadership that is based on a servanthood concept. The project results, both quantitative and qualitative, suggest that the students as a group changed in their thinking.
